Dance Performance

To enrich our Creative Humanities Festival and celebrate the HK Palace Museum’s Egyptian exhibition, we are excited to present an opening performance of Egyptian dance. This captivating show will feature traditional Saidi dances in Egyptian costumes, incorporating iconic props such as the Pharaoh’s cane, zills (finger cymbals), and veils.

Drawing inspiration from the rich heritage of Egyptian culture, the dance will showcase graceful movements, and vibrant drum vibes that echo the artistry of ancient times. Through the performances, we invite everyone to immerse themselves in the timeless allure of Egyptian dance and experience the spirit of creativity that connects cultures across history.

Action Painting Performance

The action painting performed by multidisciplinary artist Rik Yu translates the guzheng music into a sensuously innovative visual experience. Transforming classical melodies into drips, splashes, and swirls of pigment, his painting offers a live, physical response to rhythm, melodic cadence, and the resonance between sound and sight. Here, tradition is not merely depicted but dynamically felt and renewed through spontaneous gesture. We will experience how the audio-visual synthesis creates an immersive sensory encounter where sound, movement, and image engage in poetic improvisation along with the guzheng, rendering the painting into a vibrant living artifact—ancient melodies viscerally reimagined through contemporary expression.
