We often enjoy magic shows, whether on TV or live on stage, marveling at the incredible illusions and applauding the performer’s skill. Many of us are curious to uncover the secrets behind the magic. But have you ever considered how psychology can help demystify these tricks? Join Mr. Bond Lee, an award-winning international magician and champion of TVB’s The Magic Ring (魔法擂台) and Street Sorcerers (街頭魔法王) as he reveals how psychology uncovers the art of illusion.

We warmly invite you to explore this important theme at our art gallery, where a collection of artworks by HSUHK students awaits you. Through these creative pieces, we hope to inspire a deeper understanding of self-compassion, self-care, and self-acceptance. In the exhibition, you are encouraged to show your support by voting online for your favorite collection of artworks. The collection receiving the highest number of audience votes, combined with expert evaluations, will be crowned the winner of an internal competition.

The Saffron:香港中東音樂狂熱份子

The Saffron是一支本地中東音樂組合,由香港音樂人組成,除了中東傳統樂器,我們結合「中、西、中東」元素,透過與不同友人合作,我們的音樂融合多元文化元素,不但秉承香港中外文化交匯的特色,更延伸至細膩獨特的中東色彩。

成立於2025年年中,The Saffron作為初露頭角的本地樂隊在文化宣傳上作出不同新嘗試,包括: 多次獲香港故宮文化博物館展館邀請為開幕典禮、酒會及公共空間演出,以及為香港電台拍攝英文訪問及音樂演奏,並於2026年年初舉辦首場音樂會《帝國音樂咖啡館》,大獲好評。

除此之外,成員亦活躍於本地不同形式及規模的演出,曾獲邀到各大專院校、駐港領事館、一帶一路酒會及研討會 演出,並與音樂友人舉辦《一千零一夜中東音樂演奏會》,為香港帶來與眾不同的聲音。

Shakespeare Drama Competition

The live final on 28 March 2026 will be an exciting theatrical event where shortlisted participants perform their prepared Shakespeare monologue or dialogue before a live audience and a panel of judges at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong. This culmination of the competition promises a dynamic showcase of talent, celebrating the contestants’ dedication and skill in bringing classical drama to life on stage.

Judging Criteria:

  • Interpretation & Understanding: Depth of insight and preparation
  • Vocal Delivery: Clarity, articulation, pace, and dynamic rang.
  • Performance & Stagecraft: Purposeful movement, expression, and engaging presence
  • Character Portrayal: Convincing embodiment of the character’s emotions and motivations

Drama Workshop by Bootstrap Theatre

Re-imagining, Staging and Performing Shakespeare Today

The workshop provides pointers and suggestions on re-imagining Shakespeare’s works for modern audiences—from conceptualization to staging direction and actors’ performances. It will delve deeper into ways to make Shakespeare more relatable and accessible, such as setting localization and drawing parallels with current events and societies. Examples of modernized or adapted Shakespearean stories will also be given and discussed.

Lead Workshop Facilitator: William Elvin Manzano

William Elvin Manzano is a theatre veteran from Manila, Philippines, having graduated from the University of the Philippines Diliman’s theatre arts programme under the mentorship of Philippine National Artist Tony Mabesa and many other Philippine theatre luminaries.

He has done numerous productions around Metro Manila from 2005 to 2013 taking on various roles as actor, director, writer, and composer, before relocating to Hong Kong in 2014. His most well-known work as a writer-composer, the original Filipino musical “Mula sa Buwan”, garnered multiple awards including Best Musical (Aliw Awards) and Original Score (Philstage Gawad Buhay) in 2023 – and is now regarded as a contemporary classic in Philippine theatre. In Hong Kong, he is the Founder and Artistic Director of The Bootstrap Theatre, for which he has directed acclaimed Filipino playwright Floy Quintos’ full-length play “FAKE” in June 2025. He is set to direct the premiere laboratory staging of his new musical titled “JOB: Fateful Fever Dream” in July 2026.

Theatre Company: The Bootstrap Theatre

The Bootstrap Theatre (TBT) is a group based in Hong Kong, staging contemporary, socially relevant theatrical work for an international, multicultural audience.

Its name, “Bootstrap”, embodies the theater group’s go-getting, determined and passionate spirit.

TBT’s mission is to tell bold, thought-provoking, and relevant stories on stage that starkly and honestly reflect modern society through world-class theater productions.

Life of Hong Kong Eurasians 1895-1935: A Video Show and Talk by Mr. Andrew Tse

香港的歐亞裔社群成形於十九世紀,起源於歐洲、帕西及猶太商人與其中國伴侶的結合。這個社群最初曾面對種族偏見,但最終崛起成為連繫東西方的重要文化及語言橋樑。本次演講 將透過一組獨特的家庭照片與影像紀錄——展現十九世纪末至二十世纪初歐亞社群的生活面貌——來探索他們的歷史。我們將特別聚焦於中西方文化在他們日常生活中獨特的交融。 講者謝天賜是一名第四代香港出生的歐亞裔。他在香港完成 中學教育,其後於加拿大接受高等教育。謝天賜曾任職於船運 及航空業,在喷射水翼船、直升機服務,以及貨運及客運航空 公司的營運方面,擁有超過二十年的經驗。

示範講座:歷史的竹跡——竹與華夏音樂文化 

中國歷史上曾出現的樂器多不勝數,經過不斷的融合、發展與淘汰,流傳至今的都經得起時代的洗禮。示範講座介紹竹在古代的「八音」與現今的「吹彈拉打」樂器分類法中的地位,並以七件常見並與竹相關的中國樂器帶領觀眾走過歷史長河,了解竹與中國音樂文化的密切關係。最後以「絲竹更相和」展現中國音樂和而不同、多元共生的美學追求與文化意蘊。 

工作坊:鳳管參差——排簫製作與演奏

排簫由多根音管排列組成,形似鳳凰展翅,故稱「鳳管參差」, 音色空靈飄逸,以天籟之音承載著「天人合一」的哲學思想。 其歷史可追溯至西周,是最古老的竹製樂器之一,更在亞洲、 歐洲和南美洲廣為流傳。工作坊體驗排簫的製作和演奏的樂 趣,並介紹世界各地排簫的特色。

AR 藝術工作坊

本工作坊帶領學員進入擴增實境(AR)藝術世界,將靜態畫作轉化為互動數碼體驗。學生無需編程基礎,只需透過手機掃描,即可觀看自己畫的作品「活」起來,呈現動畫、影片或立體效果。工作坊分為2個階段:首先欣藝術國際案例,了解AR如何改變藝術創作與欣賞方式;接着實作環節,學生創作「觸發圖像」並上傳數碼疊加層,親身體驗從平面到立體的創作過程。

印度海娜&果膠手部彩繪藝術工作坊

海娜(Henna)是一種古老的印度藝術形式,傳統上用於文化慶典、婚禮及各類節日的身體裝飾。這個工作坊讓參加者體驗兩種創意性的臨時手部或手臂圖案,可以選擇傳統海娜或安全的美洲果(jagua)。無需任何藝術基礎,所有專業工具和材料均會提供。參加者可創作富有文化特色的海娜圖案,或個人化的美洲果圖樣。

課程將從介紹海娜和美洲果的設計理念及其文化淵源開始,隨後進行獨特紋身藝術的親手創作。這個工作坊融合了文化與個人創意,歡迎所有人參加。

首先了解海娜和果膠設計思路與文化淵源;接著進行實操創作,可以將創作屬於自己的紋身作品;感受文化與個性創意元素、適合所有人參與。
