School of Humanities and Social Science Film Show and Post Screening Discussion – NappingKid (逆向誘拐)

Sponsored by the Sin Wai Kin Scheme for Promotion of Chinese Culture, the School of Humanities and Social Science held the Film Show and Post Screening Discussion – NappingKid (逆向誘拐) on 15 Feb 2019. Following the screening, Mr Wong Ho Yin Amos, Director of NappingKid, shared his experience on filmmaking.

NappingKid is “Kidnapping” in reverse, which is a film with a detective story on the surface, but with a plot twisted and reversed. It is an adaptation of a Canadian Chinese novel with the setting relocated to Hong Kong. The film has received a HK$1.6 million grant sponsorship by CreateHK.

Distinguished Lecture – China Studies and Representation of Chinese Culture in Germany and the Nordic Countries by Professor Irmy Schweiger

Professor Irmy Schweiger, Vice-Director of the Department of Asian, Middle Eastern and Turkish Studies, Stockholm University, Sweden visited the School of Humanities and Social Science and delivered a Distinguished Lecture on “China Studies and Representation of Chinese Culture in Germany and the Nordic Countries” on 7 Dec 2018. The lecture was well-received by students and academic staff.

Exchange Agreement Signing Ceremony between the School of Humanities and Social Science, The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong and the Department of Asian, Middle Eastern and Turkish Studies, Stockholm University, Sweden

The School of Humanities and Social Science (SHSS) at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong, and the Department of Asian, Middle Eastern and Turkish Studies at Stockholm University signed an exchange agreement to establish an exchange programme on 6 Dec 2018. Professor Kwok-kan Tam, Dean of SHSS along with academic staff of SHSS warmly welcomed Professor Irmy Schweiger, Vice-Director of the Department of Asian, Middle Eastern and Turkish Studies, Stockholm University.

The academic collaboration provides participating students and scholars with an opportunity to internationalise their experience. The agreement includes exchange of undergraduate and graduate students as well as activities such as collaborative research, lectures and symposia.

Award Presentation Ceremony 2017/18 of School of Humanities and Social Science

The School of Humanities and Social Science (SHSS) held its Award Presentation Ceremony on 17 Nov 2018. This year, over 50 awardees from the undergraduate major programmes in Chinese, English, Asian Studies, and Cultural and Creative Industries have received the Dean’s List Honour and the Best Progress Award. School principals and teachers of awardees’ alma maters, parents of awardees and SHSS colleagues joined the ceremony to celebrate the remarkable accomplishments of the students.
