The year 2025 marks the 150th anniversary of the passing of the world-renowned Danish fairy tale writer, Hans Christian Andersen. In commemoration of this, the “Hans Christian Andersen: Life and Afterlife” International Conference was successfully held from 22 to 24 May 2025.
The conference was jointly organised by the School of Humanities and Social Science, the Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK), and the Hans Christian Andersen Centre, University of Southern Denmark (SDU), with collaborating institutions include Hong Kong Shue Yan University and Hong Kong Baptist University College of International Education. Nearly 30 renowned scholars from various countries attended the conference to share their insights on Andersen’s global impact through literature, film, cultural studies and digital humanities.
