On 8 August 2024, the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong was invited to host a visit for secondary school students from “The E-League” Programme organized by the East District Civil Office to nurture future leaders.
The event began with welcoming remarks from Dr Paul Fung Kai Yeung, the Associate Dean of SHSS. Dr Fung provided an insightful overview of the school’s organizational structure and highlighted the key programmes and opportunities available to students.
Following the introduction, the students embarked on a guided tour of the Creative Humanities Hub. The new academic building was designed to meet growing learning needs and student development. The Hub offers state-of-the-art facilities for a new orientation in creative humanities education that aims at greater gearing toward the creative economy. The facilities will provide a superior learning and research environment in humanities and social science.
After the tour, the students participated in discussion session centered on the topic “What are Universities for?” This session allowed them to exchange views and debate the role of universities in modern society. The interaction not only gave them a brief glimpse into the tertiary academic environment but also encouraged them to think critically about the purpose and impact of higher education.
This visit has inspired these young leaders to pursue their academic and professional goals with renewed enthusiasm and gave them a comprehensive understanding of our school.
