Organized by the School of Humanities and Social Science, the 3rd Creative Humanities Fest (the Fest) commenced on 23 March 2026, with an opening ceremony led by Dean Professor Kwok-kan Tam.
In his welcoming address, Professor Tam remarked that the Fest was not only a significant annual event for the School, but also a vital platform for showcasing the diverse talents of its staff and students. This year’s theme, “Reinventions of Classics”, explored how traditional works can be reimagined as modern masterpieces. Through a wide range of activities, including movie screenings, music performances, drama shows, seminars, public lectures, exhibitions, and creative arts workshops, the Fest demonstrated the School’s academic and creative landscape.
The ceremony kicked off with high-energy performances that bridged cultures and arts, featuring a “Middle Eastern Drum & Egyptian Folk Dance”, followed by a unique “painting with guzheng” crossover. These performances created a vibrant and artistic atmosphere for the Fest.
Following the ceremony, another highlight was a public lecture by renowned Cantonese Opera performer in Hong Kong Dr Franco Yuen Siu-fai. With over 70 years of stage experience, Dr Yuen discussed how traditional stories, melodies and staging techniques can be adapted with modern elements. He also shared insights into how these innovations keep this dynamic art form alive and relevant in today’s changing world.
Nearly 200 people, including academic staff, students and guests came together to celebrate the start of this significant event.
第三屆創意人文節開幕典禮
由人文社會科學學院主辦的「第三屆創意人文節」於2026年3月23日正式揭幕，開幕典禮由院長譚國根教授主持。
譚教授在致辭時表示，創意人文節不僅是學院每年的重要盛事，更是展示師生多元才華的重要平台。今年的主題為「經典重塑」，旨在探討如何將傳統作品轉化成當代傑作。透過電影放映、音樂表演、戲劇演出、研討會、公開講座、展覽及創意藝術工作坊等一系列豐富活動，展現學院深厚的學術與創意底蘊。
典禮以充滿活力的表演揭開序幕，融合不同文化與藝術領域，包括「中東鼓樂與埃及民俗舞」，隨後呈現別具特色的 「古箏繪畫」 跨界演出，為整個人文節營造出活力洋溢且富有藝術氣息的氛圍。
典禮過後，另一大亮點是由香港著名粵劇表演藝術家阮兆輝博士主講的公開講座。憑藉超過 70 年的舞台經驗，阮博士在講座中探討了如何將傳統故事、曲調及舞台技術與現代元素相結合。他還分享了對於這些創新如何為這門瑰麗的傳統藝術注入新生命，讓它在瞬息萬變的時代中，不僅得以傳承，更能再創高峰，綻放新的光芒。
近 200 名教職員、學生及嘉賓出席活動，共同慶祝這項年度盛事的啟幕。
